“Come to the Mountain for His Word”
Dog Days of Summer
The end of summer heading to the start of school is usually a time of hot weather with everything burned up and just a draggy time when our energies seem to be as sapped as the trees and plants around us. But, this has been an interesting spring-summer season. We had great spring rains, but the floods of spring in our state came mostly not from the sky, but from the rivers up. It was painful to watch the water come up and destroy levees and property. The water just kept coming up and we had no real answers to stop it. We were blessed by some levees holding beyond their expectations and some levee failures relieved the pressure in our area and below us. While all of this was going on you helped feed neighbors as we supported the Food Bank ministry at Oppelo.
Through our Cooperative Program gifts, we have helped provide meals and other help to the victims of the floods through the Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief teams. We also in our participation with the Baby Bottle campaign from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day raised enough money to help save 3 babies in Conway county from being aborted.
We are now in our Missions Offering for the Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home, again proving we care for not only children in our area, but also in our state. The writer of Matthew 25:40 says, “The King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Let brotherly love continue and break the ‘Dog Days of Summer.

We welcome Glenn Cromer to our church family. Glenn came to unite with First Baptist Church of Petit Jean on transfer of letter from First Baptist Church of Morrilton. This is a blessing to us and we pray that he will receive a blessing as well.
On Sunday, August 11, during our evening service we will have an informal discussion of church projects that need our attention. This will also include any future plans that may need our consideration. All members need to mark your calendar and plan to attend this meeting. Please pray that God will lead our church in the direction in which we need to go to follow His will.
