“Come to the Mountain for His Word”
Happy New Year!
This global warming is killing me. I remember when I was younger (a day or two ago), Reta and I always looked forward to watching the New Year come in. With the frigid temperatures predicted for the end of the year / start of the New Year, I suddenly don’t feel it is as important to watch the clock being counted down. However, the excitement of a New Year is always a special part of the celebration. I am sure many of us have set new goals, made new resolutions and some have probably practiced writing 2018.
What will the New Year bring? Will there be immediate ‘Peace on earth’? Probably not. Will there be immediate prosperity for all? Probably not unless you realize how blessed we really are compared to most of the world. To have a Happy New Year, we must follow these words from the apostle Paul in Philippians 4:7-8, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”

Gracious Heavenly Father, we come to you thanking you for each day you give us and for the many blessings we enjoy. We pray that you will wrap your loving arms around each one in need of your healing touch and grant them peace and health, according to your will. Guide us as we enter a new year. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Lottie Moon Mission Offering
Our goal of $3000.00 has been met! We are still accepting offerings to add to this total. This was a big accomplishment for Petit Jean First Baptist, but we did it! Thanks to all who listened to their heart and gave so generously.
A big thank you to Carroll and Nadine Satterwhite. They have given the church a food warmer for the kitchen. It has already been put to good use and will be very helpful each time we have a reason to keep food warm for potlucks and other “eating occasions”. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

Christmas 2017 has come and gone. We all enjoyed the wonderful music and messages along with the extra activities that have come to be a part of Petit Jean First Baptist Church during the Christmas season. Now we can look forward to 2018 with new opportunities to serve Him and receive all of the many blessings He will bestow upon us. May each one of you enjoy good health and happiness throughout the year.
