“Come to the Mountain for His Word”
O, Beautiful, For Spacious Skies
We are very blessed! We live in a beautiful portion of a beautiful state and a beautiful nation. We have, for the most part, clean air and clean water which is necessary to not only sustain life, but in every way possible, they are necessities. Every direction you look we see beauty. There are rivers, mountains, crops and skies that catch our eyes and leave pictures in our memories that hundreds of thousands of tourist hope to catch as they visit our area each year.
Perhaps the greatest resource we have here on the mountain is the people who reside here. Many times a great vacation experience has been spoiled by a terrible experience at a gift shop, service station or restaurant. And, I have typically found in regions of our country that one bad experience feeds another and another. The rest, the peacefulness and beauty found on the mountain, is enhanced by the neighborly fellowship seen as a rule rather than as a rarity. Much of this comes from a relationship with God, our creator that bubbles out to everyone we meet.
You live in the words of Hebrews 13:1-2 that says, “Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

What ‘s New At Petit Jean First Baptist Church?
Recently we have had our parking lot sealed. This was a big improvement to the look of our facility and will help prevent weather related problems this winter. Another improvement is new tables in our fellowship hall. These are much lighter, easier to move around, and look very nice.
We have missed having a choir for several months, but Reta Scroggs has gathered a group together again to sing praises to our Lord. We practice every Sunday evening at 5 o’clock and invite others to join us. Your talents may surprise you. Come blend your voice with ours!
We have all missed Phyllis Adams at the piano and are anxious to have her back with us.
The Food Bank at the Oppelo Baptist Church is very grateful for our help is collecting food items. Our next date to deliver our collection will be July 17th. Please have items at the church by Sunday, July 16th.
