“Come to the Mountain for His Word”
March, 2018
What Season Is It?
This is the season known as March Madness. The basketball seasons are winding down, teams are jockeying for position to win their conference and rally to be included in the ‘Big Dance,’ known as the NCAA tournament. About the only way Arkansas has been included in the madness since 1994 is to be disappointed and fuming about what the coach should or should not be doing to allow us to even get a mention.
This time of year the Diamond Hogs are doing well even though they are overshadowed by basketball news and the rumble about the pro-football draft that is approaching.
And, what about the indoor and outdoor track season at the university even though they have won decades of championships instead of one decades ago. Even the Olympics does not garner as much excitement as it once did. This is probably due to in part to the erosion of our country’s patriotism because of party politics.
The Season I get most excited about is the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions. The truth is most of us should be able to get behind a cause that should be able to bring our part of the world together and that is the cause of Christ. This year’s theme, “Here and Now” is a great reminder that missions has to begin where we are first. Just as we have met needs in our congregation and neighborhood. We must follow the plan given to us in 1 John 3:18, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech, but with actions and in truth.”

A Great Day!
On February 11, 2018, we did indeed celebrate a great day! This was a day to honor Bro. Bill and Reta for their help in the transformation of Chuck Miller’s life. Miller was a child of God, but had struggled with drugs and responded to the love and caring attitude of the Scroggs family. Today he has been clean for 25 years, pastors a church and has a beautiful loving family.

Congratulations
We extend our congratulations to James and Daphna Bickerstaff. They have recently been chosen as the State Park Volunteers of the Year for the state of Indiana. The Bickerstaffs volunteered in Petit Jean State Park for many years and have given all of their retired life to volunteer work in many places, including Petit Jean First Baptist Church. May the Lord bless them as they continue to sing His praises everywhere they go!
