“Come to the Mountain for His Word”
May, A Busy Month
As if April and March and February etc.… were not busy enough, May falls right in line. We will celebrate Mother’s Day, a Family Fun Day and Memorial Day this month as well as probably cramming a few more exciting events that have a way of popping up.
We get to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday the 13th. At one point in history more phone calls were made on that one day than any other day in the year. In retrospect the day with the most collect calls made was Father’s Day.
On Saturday May the 19th we are going to have a Fun Day here at First Baptist Church of Petit Jean. We will have hot dogs, hamburgers, snow cones and who knows what else.
There will be fun for everyone young and old. This will be the first time our church will get to use the Block Trailer from our association. It has been used in several events over the past few years, but this will be the first time most of us have been able to see it in action.
At the end of the month in addition to our monthly breakfast on the 26th we get to celebrate Memorial Day on the 28th. The sad thing about Memorial Day is that it tends to get lost in recreation as it is a long weekend and to many it is remembered just as the start of summer vacations.
In Jeremiah 31:21 we are reminded, “Set up for yourself roadmarks, Place for yourself guideposts; Direct your mind to the highway, The way by which you went.” Remember what is important as we get busy this month, our Mothers and those who gave all for our freedoms.

The Lord has allowed us to purchase the property on the northside of our building. This was a long time vision of former saints of the church and we are blessed to be able to complete their dreams and wishes. The deed is now safely tucked away in the church safety deposit box and the property is ours.
Our church has gone by several different names in the past, but it is now officially called First Baptist Church of Petit Jean.
In the special business meeting of February 28, 2018 the following men were elected to be trustees of First Baptist Church of Petit Jean: Wayne Adams, Bob Cody, Clayton Jones, Nolen Owen and Bubba Vance.
Spring is beautiful. Enjoy it!
